Lockdown Series - Becoming a Better Racing Cox

Tuesday 28th and Thursday 30th April

Join Zoe De Toledo for a 1 hour session, where you will learn from a world class cox how to improve your racing skills.

During the session we will look at:

  • Practicing and Preparing to Race

  • Identifying Decisive Moments

  • How to Analyse a Recording 

This session will include listening to one of Zoe's private recordings, and discussing it, so please come ready to join in!

Sessions will be tailored to different levels of coxing, with two sessions aimed at experienced coxes (several seasons of racing experience), and one session for intermediate coxes (at least one season of racing experience). Chattercox Zoom Clinic Series - Becoming a Better Cox during Training

Thursday April 16th - 18:00 BST

Let Zoe De Toledo get you ready to emerge from lockdown as a better coxswain! Over this 90 minute session you will learn from a world class cox how to improve your skills and learn to get the most out of yourself and your teammates in training. We will assume a standard of basic knowledge during this session, so it is unlikely to be relevant for completely new coxes, however anyone is welcome to sign up. Suitable for all English speaking coxswains.

In the first hour we will look at:

  • Steering and Reading Weather Conditions

  • Session Management

  • Building Boat Feel

  • Getting Feedback and Goal Setting

There will then be 30 minutes for Q&A.

This introductory session will cost just £7. To register for this session please email chattercox@gmail.com, including your name, rowing club, and how long you have been coxing for. You will then be sent a payment link and more details about accessing the session.

Spring is coming!
Get ready to hit the water with a winter training clinic designed just for coxswains! Over three hours, coaches Katie Wright Apfelbaum and Stacey Apfelbaum will teach coxswains how to build their own tool kit they can use to make good decisions in practice and on race day. The clinic will take place in the Trinity College boathouse in Hartford, CT.

Over three hours, athletes will participate in workshops on video and audio analysis of Katie and Zoe’s races, and tips and tricks for adding boat speed with good decisions from Stacey. Coxswains will leave the clinic with strategies to improve their steering, practice management, race tactics, and analyze their audio recordings
